Pohjois-Savo Hospital District, KYS, offers social and healthcare services in Iisalmi, Kiuruvesi, Sonkajärvi, and Vieremä. In 2014, primary health care and hospital care began to be combined in the region. The change also affected the space arrangements, and it was decided to strive for better space efficiency.
– When I came to this job, we had pretty cool premises. The goal was to fit into much fewer and smaller premises, but we needed help with that, appointment receptions, manager Kirsi Väisänen says.
Previously, a vague set of Excel tables and notes was used to organize space reservations. They have been replaced by a package offered by Taitori, which covers electronic reservation systems, door displays, and floor maps.

Guidance and advice take less time
Taitori’s system was implemented in March 2018 and took one day to implement. According to Väisänen, the system is easy to use and reliable, and the staff was trained to use it.
Immediately after the first week, it felt really good to no longer have to think and make sure that all people were in the right places and that there were no overlaps. Väisänen thanks.
– This reservation system is excellent. Guidance and advice now take less time. Many people look at this board and use it to direct themselves directly to the correct recipient’s door and not wait in vain at the door of the patient’s office.
Taitori is service-oriented and willing to develop
The municipal corporation of the North Savo hospital district was Taitori’s first healthcare customer. However, the tension was pointless because the cooperation was exemplary overall.
It has been nice cooperating with Taitori. They have served us very well and were willing to develop the system. It seems that we have been vital to them as customers, concludes Väisänen.
Improving the use of space plays a significant role
We are very excited that our solutions can enhance the working day experience of Pohjois-Savo SOTE staff and, at the same time, improve the customer experience of those dealing with the health center.

- 90 reception room
- 30% improvement in the use of space

Information about the reservation is immediately updated on the screens in the health center’s lobbies. The Taitori Display service brings a floor plan of the property showing the reservation situation in real-time to the screens, from which the person doing business on the premises can see in which room each employee works.
The health center is placed in the so-called smart door displays that show the reservation status of the space in question. Employees can identify themselves in the system and reserve a reception room immediately.
The facilities’ utilization rate is monitored from Taitori’s reporting portal. By using this real-time information, improving the reception facilities’ utilization rate is possible.
The objectives of the acquisition are:
- improving the utilization rate of reception facilities and continuous monitoring
- reducing the associated manual work currently done by hand
- guiding people doing business on the premises and offering a better customer experience
